MAPS Canada hosted the first-ever National Dialogue on Access to Psychedelics in Canada on April 20, 2026
NATIONAL DIALOGUE
On April 20th, approximately 40 invited delegates from across the country carved out time to participate in the 2026 National Dialogue on Access to Psychedelics in Canada.
Participants from various organizations, institutions and companies, shared their diverse viewpoints from across the psychedelic sector – representing clinical practice, research, lived experience, Indigenous perspectives, healthcare delivery, policy, law, manufacturing, and advocacy.
The goal was to come to a common understanding about where we are currently, and articulate a shared response to the question: What should access to psychedelics in Canada look like moving forward and what steps do we need to take to get there?
Our discussions focused on 4 key areas:
The Evidence Base: What We Know and Why It Matters
Public Health: Equity, Ethics and Cultural Context
The Legal Landscape: Regulation, Law, and Global Lessons
Building the System: Infrastructure, Workforce and Public Readiness
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On June 15th, MAPS Canada released an Executive Summary, highlighting key findings, priority areas, and calls to action emerging from the National Dialogue, including an overarching call to develop a coordinated Canadian framework that is evidence-informed, equity-oriented, and culturally responsive. The summary is intended to inform ongoing discussions and policy development ahead of the release of the full report.
